Maya Kowalcyk, E-RYT 200 & Ayurveda Yoga Specialist
Maya, founder of Jim Thorpe Yoga in 2012, has been practicing yoga since 1997 and teaching since 2008. Her background includes studies in Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kundalini, Yin, prenatal, and vinyasa yoga and in Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga. Inspiring teachers like Sean Corn, Dean Lerner, Rebecca Lerner, Patricia Walden, Manuso Manos, and Carrie Owerko have helped to shape both her own practice and teaching style. Yoga has helped her alleviate pain and heal from neck, knee, and lower back injuries, and has given her solace in overcoming the loss of her mother in the summer of 2012. Maya has found her study of yoga and Ayurveda to be ever-evolving and believes this is her lifelong journey to continue to learn and serve those around her. Her ability and passion for connecting with students and sharing the joys of yoga and Ayurveda keeps growing every day. Maya is also an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, trained at the Himalayan Institute, and leads workshops on Ayurveda and gives individual Ayurvedic consultations by appointment.
